Job description

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is hiring a Principal Product Designer to lead high-impact design across AWS AI Services’ AI/ML portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic, portfolio-level design initiatives across Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, plus the broader AWS AI/ML portfolio
  • Own design for consequential and ambiguous customer problems spanning developer experiences and interaction models
  • Define the future of AI developer experiences, covering how builders create, evaluate, deploy, govern, and operate generative AI applications and agents on AWS
  • Go beyond UI by shaping technology with deep involvement in architecture, APIs, data models, and developer workflows
  • Bring clarity to unclear problem spaces using customer insight, systems thinking, product judgment, and prototyping
  • Set a high design quality bar through hands‑on craft: continue designing and shipping, explore alternatives and tradeoffs, prototype rapidly, validate ideas with customers, and drive execution from concept to detailed delivery
  • Create coherence across the portfolio by identifying where customers experience fragmentation across AWS AI Services and establishing shared interaction models, frameworks, and reusable patterns
  • Partner across organizational boundaries by building trusted relationships with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Science, and UX
  • Bring customer evidence and design thinking into strategic decisions and help align teams with different technical constraints, priorities, or viewpoints
  • Raise the design bar beyond individual contributions through critique, direction, and reusable approaches for other teams
  • Mentor designers working through complex technical problems and support broader org-wide design quality
Requirements
  • 8+ years of design experience
  • Available online portfolio
  • Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design
  • Experience delivering life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment, including completing complex tasks quickly with limited guidance and responding with appropriate urgency
  • Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, Operations, Legal, Finance, and Senior Leadership
  • Experience providing training and mentorship
  • 3+ years designing and shipping developer-facing AI/ML products, including understanding the end‑to‑end agent development lifecycle: model hosting, deployment, observability, and evaluation
  • Design across APIs, SDKs, CLIs, and console experiences, with technical depth to understand developer workflows and influence underlying interfaces and abstractions
  • Ability to design in code‑based prototypes and work comfortably with code
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data
  • Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVision
  • Experience designing products for AWS or another major cloud platform, with an understanding of enterprise cloud customer needs
Benefits
  • Health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D, and option for Supplemental life plans)
  • EAP
  • Mental Health Support
  • Medical Advice Line
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage
