Job description

Intuit is hiring a Principal Product Designer (onsite in Raleigh, NC) to define a cross-product object model and translate it into reusable, AI-native experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Define and own a cross-product object model, including core objects, attributes, and relationships
  • Map how objects appear, behave, and connect across surfaces and teams, and identify where the model has fragmented
  • Use object-oriented UX methods or similar approaches to turn the model into navigation, views, and interaction patterns teams can reuse
  • Establish the model as a shared artifact that Product, Engineering, and Design build against and keep current as the platform evolves
  • Evolve the identity, roles, permissions, and access experience for multi-user firms, from solo practitioners to the largest organizations with complex teams and hierarchies
  • Make access controls understandable, including who can see which clients, what actions are allowed, and the reasoning behind access
  • Design multi-user collaboration across firm staff, client users, and Intuit experts, including delegation, handoffs, and audit visibility
  • Extend the same rules to AI, ensuring agents acting on a user’s behalf respect identity and permissions
  • Design user-facing trust for AI access, so users can see and understand what AI can access
  • Partner with engineering and architecture on data models, entitlements, and platform services so the experience model and system model reinforce each other
  • Push for better solutions by using technical constraints to shape outcomes
  • Surface tradeoffs, risks, and long-term implications of structural decisions early
  • Act as a design facilitator to bring designers, PMs, and engineers into the same model, build shared ownership, and maintain alignment without formal authority
  • Identify and resolve experience fragmentation and design debt across organizational boundaries
  • Ensure patterns and design system components carry the model consistently, including through AI-assisted design and build tools
  • Influence decisions at the Director and VP level through clarity of thought and strength of craft
  • Set the standard for systems thinking and interaction depth in complex enterprise workflows
  • Mentor senior and staff designers in experience architecture, object modeling, and platform thinking
  • Use AI tools to compress the path from model to testable prototype, and help define what great systems design looks like in an AI-native world
Requirements
  • Deep expertise in systems design and experience architecture, including object-oriented UX, information architecture, and domain modeling
  • Proven experience designing identity, roles, permissions, and access for multi-user products at scale, ideally with large organizations and complex hierarchies
  • Demonstrated success shaping platform-level or ecosystem-level design strategy across multiple teams and surfaces
  • Comfort at the intersection of design, product, and engineering, with credibility on data models and entitlements while maintaining product judgment and craft depth
  • Strong facilitation instincts to bring people into a problem, build alignment, and create forward motion without formal authority
  • Hands-on fluency with AI as a design material, including AI-powered design and prototyping tools such as Claude and Cursor
  • Excellent executive communication, able to explain complex structural concepts using frameworks, maps, and visual storytelling
  • Demonstrated mentorship of senior designers, including judgment on when to unblock directly versus build capability
  • Portfolio showcasing systems-level work, including models, maps, and frameworks (not just screens), and how it influenced what shipped
  • Experience with accounting, fintech, or other high-trust B2B domains is a plus
