Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to lead development of manufacturing processes and battery designs for new product development at MECC for the Cardiac Rhythm Management business. The role requires working onsite at least 4 days a week to foster collaboration and growth, with travel under 10%.

You will partner with Design, Operations, Quality, and Reliability teams to develop battery processes, validate projects, and drive efficiency and yields in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience, or 5+ years with advanced degree.
• Experience in battery development/manufacturing within a regulated industry.

A Day in the Life

The Principal Process Engineer is an experienced individual contributor who will lead the development of manufacturing processes and battery designs for New Product Development at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) for the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) business. MECC supports the design, development, and production of components used in implantable devices.

This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities may include the following:

• Work with cross-functional teams including Design, Operations, Quality, and Reliability to develop processes for batteries in a regulated industry. Heavily involved in creating design and requirements for products
• Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot and provide technical skills during product development; meet quality standards with capable processes to optimize production efficiencies and yields
• Run experiments with statistical analysis to support fast learning cycles
• Lead the innovation, development and optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations
• Plan and execute process validation: characterization, OQ/PQ, TMVs and process release activities
• Knowledge of scope, schedule and budget to plan and execute work accordingly
• Develop manufacturing equipment by creating requirements and interfacing with supplier during equipment design and build; familiar with FAT/SAT/IQ

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in battery development/manufacturing within a regulated industry
• Experience in new product development including design for reliability and manufacturing (DRM)
• Experience with predictive modeling and experimental design software including: JMP, Minitab, and MATLAB
• DRM or Six Sigma certification
• Experience with slot-die coating

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific field
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, OR advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$128,800.00 - $193,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
