Job summary

Dimensional Fund Advisors’ Technology Department seeks a hands-on Platform Engineer to own monitoring and alerting strategy across the platform. You’ll design and evolve monitoring capabilities, support automation, and collaborate with application teams for reliable services.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years building software solutions, 5+ years in platform services or SRE/DevOps, and strong Python, Terraform, and Ansible skills. Hybrid work in Austin supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience developing software solutions.
• 5+ years of experience developing modern software‑driven infrastructure and/or platform services.
• Experience designing, implementing, and/or supporting workflow automation systems, messaging/queuing systems, and/or ETL frameworks.
• Comfortable troubleshooting vendor software systems.
• Deep familiarity with Linux and related technologies.
• Familiarity with Windows and related technologies.
• Experience developing software in Python (or equivalent), Terraform (or equivalent), and Ansible (or equivalent).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex concepts to various audiences helping them to understand the benefits of technologies and recommended course of action

• Engage with application development teams and internal customers to assist with their utilization of application services
• Develop software solutions using scripting, back‑end, and/or front‑end technologies

The Platform Engineers at Dimensional are focused on leading, designing and developing the platform and services that underpin all of Dimensional’s applications and business processes across a variety of technical domains. Application services are key components of the platform, as they provide foundation services that include workflow automation, event-driven integration, ETL, and security tooling in support of software development.

We are looking for a hands‑on engineer to join our team and own the platform’s monitoring and alerting strategy. This strategy includes supporting the platform’s current monitoring capabilities in addition to evolving them for future use.

Preferred Competencies:

• Working knowledge of security best practices for SDLC (e.g., the Secure Software Development Framework)


• Experience working in or with an SRE or DevOps team


• Experience with agile/scrum methodologies


• Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed


• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate Certification or equivalent


• Financial services industry experience
