Job summary

CLA is seeking a Principal or Signing Director to lead the Transaction Tax practice in a high-impact role based in Tampa. You will manage client relationships, drive new business, and mentor juniors while delivering comprehensive tax due diligence, structuring, and modeling for acquisitions and dispositions.

The ideal candidate has a CPA license, 10+ years in federal/state/international tax, and the ability to collaborate with specialty tax groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years in federal/state/international tax compliance, planning, and consulting services.
• CPA license required; JD or EA may substitute in some cases.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with new business development, existing clients and mentoring team members.
• Deliver tax due diligence, structuring, modeling and other engagements for acquisitions/dispositions by PE groups, family offices, and strategic buyers.
• Collaborate with SALT, International, and Federal Tax Solutions teams as needed.
• Perform tax due diligence by reviewing returns, documents, and financial statements; write and review reports.
• Lead engagement progress by monitoring time, budgets, and deadlines with autonomy.

CLA is currently seeking a Principal or Signing Director to join our Transaction Tax practice.

How you'll create opportunities in this role:

• Manage and develop relationships with new business development, existing clients and mentoring team members.
• Develop client relationships by delivering a full range of tax due diligence, structuring, modeling and other special project engagements related to acquisitions and dispositions by private equity investor groups, family offices and strategic buyers.
• Work with CLA specialty tax groups as needed (SALT, International Tax, and Federal Tax Solutions).
• Perform tax due diligence projects through a review of tax returns, legal documents, and financial statements, and write and review tax due diligence reports.
• Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment that offers a ton of flexibility, autonomy, and the encouragement to make things happen.
• Lead the engagement progress by monitoring time, budgets and deadlines for adherence.

What you will need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience performing federal, state, and/or international tax compliance, planning, and consulting services
• CPA license certification required. A JD degree or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification may be accepted in lieu of a CPA license

The compensation range for this position in California is: $165,000.00 - $400,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Colorado is: $190,000.00 - $300,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $140,000.00 - 300,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $165,000.00 - $300,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $130,000.00 - $400,000.00

The compensation range for this position in New York is: $340,000.00 - $400,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Viginia is: $165,000.00 - $249,000.00
