Job summary

Outrider in Denver, CO seeks a Principal Mechatronics Engineer to own the full lifecycle of our robotic arm and end effectors, from concept through field deployment. You will set mechanical architecture standards and drive design decisions for reliability and scalability.

The role blends rigorous analysis with hands-on leadership, mentoring a team of mechanical engineers while collaborating with software, electrical and systems teams to deliver a safety-critical industrial automation platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in integrated hardware/software systems such as robotics or industrial automation
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience owning mechanical system architecture end-to-end
• Designing and documenting machined parts, weldments, sheet metal with GD&T
• Apply DFM to machined parts, sheet metal, weldments, cast components
• Lead reliability programs — FMEA, root cause, corrective action
• Proficiency with FEA and guiding others in simulation
• Experience with PDM systems and part release processes
• Sensor integration in electromechanical systems
• Mentoring engineers to raise technical quality

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical architecture of advanced robotics from requirements to field release
• Define and maintain CAD, GD&T standards and documentation
• Apply DFM throughout design by collaborating with vendors and contract manufacturers
• Lead design reviews and mentor Mechanical Engineer I/II
• Partner with software/electrical/systems teams for HW/SW interfaces
• Evaluate vendors and lead supplier development for hardware
• Lead reliability initiatives including FMEA/FTA and corrective actions
• Identify and resolve systemic mechanical risks before field deployment
