RTX’s Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) Directorate in Tucson, AZ seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer with at least eight years of professional experience to design, develop, document and sustain innovative test environment systems for Raytheon Missile Defense products. This 100% onsite role requires active DoD Secret clearance eligibility and US citizenship.

You will research, plan and implement mechanical test systems across vibration, thermal, hydraulic, RF and electro-optical domains,

This position is for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience. The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) Directorate is a multi-discipline organization responsible for developing test solutions for all Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) products. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integratestate of the arttest solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world. TEE productsare located inengineering labs, in the field, and in production environmentsutilizedfor weapon system product verification, qualification, test data analysis, and production test solution development. TEE has job opportunities across all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including demonstrations, early engineering tests, design verification tests, production, and sustainment.

What You Will Do
  • Research, plan, design and develop mechanical test systems in areas including, but not limited to, vibration, thermal, hydraulic, radio frequency, and electro-optical for production testing environments.

  • Integrate andvalidate test systems against stringent accuracy and reliability requirements.

  • Evaluate production installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of technical / engineering experience in mechanical design and/or production support.

  • Skilled in using CAD solid modeling and analysis tools, with an emphasis on ProE / CREO Parametric for complex design and engineering workflows.

  • Demonstrated experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) analysis.

  • Experience creating mechanical drawing packages.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Design experience with mechanical and electronic packaging.
  • Experience with Configuration Management processes, application, and tools (e.g., Windchill /cPDM).
  • Experience in Model Based Engineering or Model Based Design.
  • Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal analysis, structural analysis, control systems, electrical hardware design, or large assembly development.
  • Experience with environmental stress screening of hardware (e.g., vibration, shock, thermal, etc.).
  • Systems engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing,coachingand process execution.
  • Experience in proposal development and the first four gates within the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS).
  • Experience with providing guidance andassistanceto less experienced professionals and/or support employees.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
