Job summary

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions in Houston is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer – Pressure Vessels to lead design, specification and application of pressure vessel equipment for onshore and offshore projects, including towers, reactors, drums and heat exchangers.

Qualifications

Principal Mechanical Engineer – Pressure Vessel

KBR is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer – Pressure Vessels who will be responsible for the design, specification and application of pressure vessel equipment for onshore and offshore projects, such as Towers, Reactors, and Drums, along with Heat Exchangers.

Functional Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for design, specification, selection and applications relating to pressure vessels (ASME) equipment.


• Technical requisition of pressure vessel equipment


• Perform technical bid evaluations.


• Vendor drawing review and engineering coordination of technical information with vendors and company engineering specialists.


• Field commissioning and startup support when required.


• Manage technical scope for supply of new pressure vessel equipment for onshore and offshore projects.


• Support Project Engineers to address technical concerns with internal and external clients.


• Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.


• Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.


• Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.


• Ensure that the highest engineering standards are maintained within the mechanical engineering department during the design and manufacture of these products.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering field


• 7 years of progressive experience, specifically in pressure vessels design.


• Working knowledge of current ASME and API codes and standards.


• Working knowledge of software design of pressure vessels such as PVElite.


• Detailed design of pressure vessels


• Collaboration with other disciplines such as piping, process, and civil.


• Experienced lead pressure vessel engineer for small and large scale projects.


• Experience with chemical, petrochemical, refining, and oil and gas projects is preferred, especially LNG liquefaction, ammonia, ethylene, refining and offshore facilities.


• Computer proficiency in MS Windows and related MS Office productivity software


• Additional experience with installation and commissioning is a plus


• Certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer, or willingness to obtain


• Working knowledge of Documentum is a plus.
