Raytheon seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead a team designing, integrating, and testing aerospace hardware in our Advanced Airframes Department in Tucson, AZ. You will manage sub‑systems, coordinate with IPTs, suppliers, and Raytheon factories, and drive cost/ schedule performance.
The role requires a STEM degree with extensive design and production experience, CAD tools proficiency, and an active US security clearance.

The Advanced Airframes Department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering provides Mechanical Engineering support to develop solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our core mechanical engineering responsibilities include requirements/conceptual development, design, integration, and test support. We partner with several Mechanical Product Team departments to provide full system solutions.
The Advanced Airframes Department is currently hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer located on site in Tucson, Arizona. In this on‑site role, you will play a pivotal part as a member of a mechanical or engineering team to design, analyze, and optimize next‑generation aerospace mechanisms and structures. You will coordinate and execute engineering activities across multiple products, design complex sub‑systems or systems, manage a team of engineers, and ensure seamless collaboration with suppliers and Raytheon factory operations, and program IPTs. This position may include Cost Account Management (CAM) responsibilities for labor and material.
The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
