Job summary

ThinKom Solutions in Hawthorne, CA seeks a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead and execute the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems, ensuring robust performance from concept through production.

You will work with multiple product teams, mentor junior engineers, prepare design reviews and manufacturing documentation, interface with suppliers and production, and contribute to proposals, while maintaining eligibility for a US DoD security

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. MS preferred.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering and product design experience.
• Proficiency in design for producibility, reliability, and maintainability.
• Knowledge of materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration, heat transfer, FEA, and composite structures.
• Experience with fabrication techniques such as machining, forming, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing.
• Knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, coatings, and related industry specifications.
• Solid modeling, engineering drawings, GD&T. Creo experience preferred.
• Well versed in configuration management.
• Proficiency in MS Office products.

Job Summary

This position is focused on the mechanical design, development, and manufacturing of stationary and mobile antenna systems and related equipment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Work as part of multiple integrated product teams. In some cases, will be lead mechanical engineer on a team, while in others, will be in a support and/or advisory role
• Perform hands‑on design and analysis, and mentor junior engineers
• Prepare and present design and analysis material during internal and customer design reviews
• Prepare detailed product manufacturing documentation such as test procedures and assembly instructions
• Support component and antenna system level environmental testing
• Interface with ThinKom production personnel and outside suppliers during manufacturing phase of programs
• Support business development activities by providing input for proposals

Skills and/or Experience Needed

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. MS preferred
• 10+ years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering and product design and development
• Advanced capability in the design and analysis of positioner drive systems. Experience with precision positioners and the design or selection of bearings is preferred
• Advanced capability in designing for producibility, reliability, and ease of assembly and maintenance
• Knowledge in the areas of materials, structural and thermal analysis, dynamics, vibration and mechanical shock, heat transfer, finite element analysis, and composite structures
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques such as machining, forming, casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, coatings, and related industry specifications
• Solid modeling, engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Experience with Creo is preferred
• Well versed in configuration management
• Technically proficient in MS Office products

• Interpersonal skills to effectively work with ThinKom personnel as well as suppliers and customers
• Ability to effectively present information in team meetings and design reviews

Additional Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in Support of US Government contracts/subcontracts
• Follow ThinKom corporate policies and design procedures

Physical Demands

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
• This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data
• This position may be subject to interruptions that may cause a change in immediate priorities and/or work focus
• While performing duties of this position, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and/or bend
• May occasionally lift and/or move files or boxes up to 50 pounds
• May be subjected to occasional irregular or extended work hours
• May be required to sit for extended lengths of time
• Must be able to work in an environment that may be subjected to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials, chemicals and, electromagnetic energy

Salary Range

$140,000 - $180,000
