Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Level 3 to join the Launch Systems Manufacturing Integration Team. The role is 100% onsite with no relocation assistance and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.

You will design processes, layouts, and operation sequences for fabrication and assembly, adapt designs to production conditions, and support quality assurance across the manufacturing lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred for advanced roles.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Engineering systems and applying DFM concepts.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, layout, tooling design, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions affecting product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plans.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify efficiency and initiate corrective actions.
  • Develops manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding Design For Manufacturing (DFM) concepts and spec requirements.

Northrop Grumman' Space Systems is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Level 3 to join our Launch Systems Manufacturing Integration Team in Chandler, AZ. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. Relocation assistance is not available.


Your Role And Impact


  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.

  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plans.

  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, investigate and initiate corrective actions for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.

  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding Design For Manufacturing (DFM) concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.


Required Qualifications For Level 3


  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of related experience

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance

  • Experienced in creating, supporting & sustaining the use of Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) work instructions

  • Proficient in DFM

  • Experience with manufacturing processes, procedures work cell layout, production build sequence, tooling design, troubleshooting/corrective action, and quality assurance.

  • Experience adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions

  • Familiarity working with CAD, NX, Costpoint and Teamcenter


Preferred Qualifications


  • An active US Government Secret (or above) security clearance a

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman processes

We work a 9/80 schedule (9 hours per day Mon-Thurs, 8 hours every other Friday with the alternate Friday off)

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00


The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.


Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
