Principal, High School – 250‑day position. Effective 2025‑26. Full‑time. Location: Prince William County, VA.
Job status: Open. Closing date: 08/10/2026 11:59 PM.
Salary: Grade 21 – $147,925‑$239,789 per year (competitive benefits).
Reports to: Associate Superintendent – Calendar – Primary A – 250 Admin.

Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide instructional direction to all staff to implement the total curriculum.
- Organize the school to provide an optimum learning environment and experiences in curricular and extracurricular programs.
- Assign duties to assistant principals and key personnel to maintain orderly day‑to‑day operation.
- Manage appropriated and non‑appropriated funds to achieve school program outcomes.
- Direct in‑service programs focusing on maintenance, improvement, and future planning of current programs.
- Provide effective public relations and communication within the school and the community.
- Select and assign personnel to ensure best utilization of experience and skills.
- Evaluate and supervise staff to maintain competence and fulfill educational goals.
- Coordinate use of central office staff to develop and maintain effective school programs and services.
- Establish and maintain effective school discipline.
- Provide athletic and extracurricular activities appropriate for high school students.
- Manage the operation and maintenance of building and grounds.
- Lead the development and implementation of the continuous improvement plan and budget in cooperation with the school advisory council.
- Assist in coordinating central office classified support personnel who provide services to the local school.
- Implement, monitor, and assist in evaluating the division‑wide curriculum action plan at the local level.
- Perform responsibilities charged by the local School Board.
Qualifications for Successful Performance
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors
- Knowledge of instructional process, public relations, school finance, school law, personnel management, administration, supervision, curriculum, and educational processes.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
Education and License Requirements
- Minimum: Master’s degree.
- Advanced requirements: Pupil Personnel or Postgraduate Professional license.
- State license: Must hold a Virginia teaching certificate and endorsement in Administrative/Supervision PreK‑12.
- If no current VA postgraduate professional license, must hold a reciprocal out‑of‑state certification with a comparable endorsement.
Work Experience Requirements
- Successful, full‑time experience as an administrator.
- Experience at the level supervised.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a standard indoor environment. Duties are regularly performed without exposure to adverse conditions; occasional noise, computer screens, and minor heating or cooling issues may occur.
