Job summary

Venus Aerospace in Houston, TX, seeks a Principal GNC Engineer to design and flight test revolutionary propulsion technology. You will be the first GNC engineer to implement thrust vector control on a Rotating Detonation Engine vehicle, leading flight controls, and collaborating with flight software, avionics, and HITL teams.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years GN&C experience, strong modeling and testing mindset, and ability to mentor engineers; ITAR compliance expertise is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years GN&C experience.
• 7+ years developing control systems in aerospace/aviation.
• Experience verifying GN&C algorithms via simulation and flight test.
• Deep knowledge of flight control and navigation sensor systems.
• Strong testing mindset with data-driven design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Experience mentoring engineers and technicians.
• Ability to meet ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Architect, analyze, and implement GN&C for flight test vehicles.
• Develop control laws and algorithms from conceptual design through simulation and flight testing.
• Lead the development of GN&C analysis tools and techniques.
• Collaborate with Range Flight Safety and Flight Ops for range approvals.
• Develop flight test plans, support events, and analyze flight data.
• Define simulations and tools vital for analysis and verification.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop testing and system qualification.
