Job summary

As a Principal Generative AI Engineer, you will design, build, and ship solutions spanning traditional machine learning, Generative AI, and agentic AI, partnering closely with business and engineering stakeholders from scoping through production.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Mathematics or related quantitative field.
• 8+ years applying data science, ML, and AI to real-world business problems.
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools, including Codex and Claude Code.
• Experience building engineering agents that accelerate delivery (testing, code review, deployment-validation).
• Full-stack AI fluency across modeling and LLМ app development, rapid prototyping with Streamlit and React.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Generative AI Engineer, you will design, build, and ship solutions spanning traditional machine learning, Generative AI, and agentic AI, partnering closely with business and engineering stakeholders from scoping through production.

This is an onsite position in Weehawken, NJ. The hourly compensation range is USD 75 - 75. The role calls for an advanced quantitative background and 8+ years of experience applying AI to business problems with expanding scope and influence.

• Design, build, and deliver AI solutions end to end across traditional ML, Generative AI, and Agentic AI, while shaping technical direction and mentoring/managing a growing team.
• Scope and deliver core AI solutions with business stakeholders, data scientists, engineers, and product and technology partners.
• Help shape enterprise AI practices and standards, applying deep expertise in AI solution delivery.
• Own solution delivery on an enterprise AI platform, shipping agentic solutions end to end rather than building or owning underlying platform infrastructure.
• Partner with the business to assess and quantify the overall value delivered by the AI solution.

What you bring

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 8+ years applying data science, ML, and AI to real-world business problems, demonstrating progressive growth in scope, complexity, and influence.
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools, including Codex and Claude Code, used daily as a force multiplier with critical review of outputs.
• Experience building engineering agents that accelerate delivery (for example, testing, code review, or deployment-validation agents), not just using AI tools to write code.
• Full-stack AI fluency across statistical modeling and ML through LLM application development and agentic system design, including rapid prototyping with tools like Streamlit and React, and owning solutions through to production.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python; working knowledge of SQL and JavaScript/TypeScript to build and ship a solution front end (for example, with React). Familiarity with modern practices such as testing, code review, and CI/CD, plus comfort deploying with Docker and operating on Kubernetes using existing platform tooling to ship and run solutions.
• Hands-on expertise with LLMs, RAG architectures, and prompt engineering, including GraphRAG and knowledge graphs alongside traditional vector-based RAG.
• Experience with multi-agent and sub-agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Google ADK, or equivalents, plus MCP or equivalent tool integration protocols for production agentic systems.
• Rigorous experience developing and evaluating AI systems, including automated evaluation pipelines, red-teaming, hallucination detection, safety testing, and performance monitoring.
• Proficiency with cloud AI platforms, particularly GCP Vertex AI for agentic development, with working knowledge of AWS services such as SageMaker and Bedrock, and familiarity with Databricks. Comfort consuming cloud-native services including existing IaC templates, CI/CD pipelines, and the AI gateway to deploy and operate solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including scoping initiatives, presenting to senior leaders, managing expectations, and driving alignment across business and technology partners.
• A track record of mentoring and elevating technical talent.
• Experience in life insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is a plus.
