Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst to join the Heart Failure division in Pleasanton, CA. You will lead financial planning and analysis for the HF business unit, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management, with cross-functional collaboration.

The role emphasizes month-end close, analytics, tool development, and consolidated reporting. Strong MS Office skills, EssBase/Hyperion, and experience in a matrixed global environment are required; Power BI is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• 5 to 8 years of related experience.
• Experience with EssBase (Dodeca) and Hyperion
• Knowledge of the principles, processes and standards for integral financial analysis and reporting
• Previous experience working with MS Office Suite: Excel and PowerPoint; must have strong proficiency with relevant financial systems applications.
• Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
• Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
• Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial planning and analysis activities for the HF business unit, which may include budgeting and forecasting, profit and loss, market modeling, sales analysis, business development, gross margin, capital, exchange, price volume variance, headcount and other facets of the complete HF P&A.
• Perform month-end close activities including detailed analysis on monthly variances vs. LBE in close collaboration with Geo FP&A teams.
• Develop flexible, comprehensive tools and templates to support the consolidation and timely completion of corporate schedules as well as develop system solutions and process improvements that meet the needs of the financial planning and/or reporting requirements.
• Maintain an effective and efficient planning process for the division and functional areas being supported, including the coordination of a planning calendar with key dates and deliverables.
• Partner with key geographies to consolidate month-end, LBE, Plan analysis and commentary related to the respective financial cycle.
• Prepare consolidated reporting, presentations, and analysis for quarterly LBE cycles.
• Participate in ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by finance management.
• Provide routine reports to management based on knowledge of finance systems and knowledge of the HF business.
