Amazon's Special Projects team seeks a Principal Finance Manager to lead finance support for internal start-ups, shaping financial strategy for new businesses that lack revenue histories. You will design investment frameworks and present analyses to senior leaders.
You will own end-to-end P&L, build reporting, controls, and scalable finance processes, and manage a small team across FP&A, operations, and accounting.
Job ID: 10585875 | Amazon.com Services LLC
Amazon's Special Projects team takes the Think Big leadership principle to the max, with no industries or subject areas out of bounds. We evaluate, incubate, and scale bold new ideas with the goal of creating entirely new products and services that address grand challenges in the world. Our portfolio includes programs in various stages of development, and our finance team engages directly with Amazon senior leaders to determine which bets we make and how we scale them.
As Principal Finance Manager, you will lead finance support for internal start-ups operating in high ambiguity. You will set the financial strategy and vision for business units that don't yet have established revenue streams, customer bases, or operating histories. You will design investment frameworks that support key program decisions, and present financial analyses and recommendations directly to senior business and finance leaders. You will invent and implement reporting infrastructure, planning rhythms, financial controls, and operational mechanisms.
This role demands a finance leader who is equal parts strategist and operator. Someone who can size a market that doesn't yet exist in the morning and build the month-end close process for a new business in the afternoon. Someone who thrives when data is scarce, stakes are high, and answers aren't obvious. If you want to shape how Amazon invests in innovation and build finance support from the ground up, this role is for you.
