Job summary

Parsons seeks a Field Engineer - Rail and Transit to join a New York project in Queens. You will perform field engineering tasks with minimal supervision, applying plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods for assigned areas of large projects.

The role includes reviewing contractor performance, ensuring environmental compliance, coordinating documentation, and supporting the Construction Manager during day/night shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction-related field or equivalent experience.
• 5–7+ years in field construction; 10+ years in heavy construction projects preferred.
• Experience on large civil/structural or industrial projects.
• Strong written and oral communication; familiar with CAD and PC software.
• Ability to lead on a project and develop meeting minutes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction to ensure work aligns with approved documents.
• Ensure environmental compliance during construction.
• Maintain up-to-date information for field inspectors.
• Document non-conformances and manage NCR log.
• Coordinate design reviews, RFIs, NCRs, and site challenges.
• Review daily/other reports and assist the Construction Manager.
• Attend meetings and distribute minutes; support CM during shifts.

Job Description

Parsons has an amazing career opportunity for a talented Field Engineer - Rail and Transit to join our team! In this role you will get to work on an exciting Rail and Transit project in New York (Queens), NY. With minimal supervision, independently performs all aspects of field engineering assignments including implementation of plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods and systems for an assigned project, or a designated area of a large project. Incumbent is also responsible for reviewing the performance of contactor and subcontractors to assure contract compliance, the application of accepted construction technology and standards, and the acceptable standardization of materials and supplies.

What You'll Be Doing

• Oversee and ensure that the project is being constructed in accordance with the approved documents.
• Ensure Environmental Compliance during construction.
• Ensure that the field inspectors have up to date information and documentation to review the field work.
• Document non-conformances and responsible to update the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) log.
• Coordinating and distribution design and as-built reviews, distribution and tracking of construction related documentation including RFI's and NCRs. Identifying and communicating site related construction challenges to the team for timely resolution.
• Review the inspector daily reports and other reports as needed.
• Responsible for inspection assignments in collaboration with the Assistant Construction Manager.
• Review the CPM schedule and look-aheads and able to realistically estimate the activity durations.
• Perform field inspections, as directed by the Construction Manager.
• Prepare the Daily Reports, Monthly Reports, and other reports, as directed by Construction Manager.
• Assisting the Construction Manager as required.
• Attending and taking meeting minutes, distribution of meeting minutes, as directed by Construction Manager.
• The position require support during day/night shifts and frequent weekend shifts during the CM oversight of the project construction schedule.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience
• 5-7+ years of experience in field construction is required.
• 10+ years of related experience in heavy construction projects.
• Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred.
• Requires a comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices.
• Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the proven ability for performing in a lead capacity on a project.
• Software skills should include: MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, ProCore, Adobe Acrobat .
• Good Oral and Written communication abilities, will be writing and editing Meeting Minutes.

Salary Range

$42.50 - $74.38
