Trident Systems, located in Fairfax, VA, seeks a Principal Facility Security Officer (FSO) to lead its security program and ensure compliance with NISPOM and government requirements. The FSO will coordinate with DCSA, manage clearance processing, and oversee classified information handling across programs, including SCI-level projects.

The role requires DoD Secret clearance, extensive security operations experience, and the ability to travel as needed.

Position Summary

The Facility Security Officer serves as the lead point person responsible for the Security function at Trident and will lead the daily operations for security matters. The position will ensure appropriate security measures for successful compliance with the 32 CFR 117, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)requirements, up to and including SCI-level projects. Additionally, the position will serve as a liaison for all aspects of security, internally and externally facing.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Administer and oversee the industrial security program in line with NISPOM, DCSA guidance, and government customer requirements
• Act as the main liaison with DCSA, government security representatives, and internal leadership
• Manage personnel security actions, including clearance processing, visit requests, indoctrinations, debriefings, and access determinations
• Maintain accurate records in DISS, NBIS, and other government security systems
• Develop and maintain facility security policies, procedures, and training programs
• Deliver security education, annual refresher training, and insider threat awareness training
• Oversee classified document control, storage, transmission, destruction, and accountability
• Ensure compliance with closed areas, secure rooms, alarms, and classified storage containers
• Support government inspections, self-inspections, audits, and corrective action plans
• Process classified visit certifications and foreign travel/security reporting
• Help program teams implement contract security requirements, including DD254s
• Support insider threat program activities, coordinating with leadership and cybersecurity
• Stay ready for DCSA assessments and resolve findings promptly
• Ability to support travel or off-site work, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience/combined education)
• 9+ years of industrial security or related security management experience (OR 7+ years with a graduate degree)
• Experience as an FSO or Assistant FSO in a cleared defense contractor environment
• Active US DOD Secret Clearance
• Strong working knowledge of NISPOM, DCSA processes, and classified information handling
• Hands-on experience with DISS, NBIS, NISS, and related systems
• Ability to interpret DD254s and implement contract-specific requirements
• Experience conducting security training, inspections, and compliance assessments
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace and defense experience: Five or more years of progressive industrial security experience, including service as an FSO or Assistant FSO for a cleared government contractor; experience supporting multiple locations is desirable.
• Completed FSO training: Completion of the applicable Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) FSO curriculum for possessing or non-possessing facilities.
• NISPOM and contract security knowledge: Demonstrated experience applying the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), 32 CFR Part 117, interpreting DD Form 254 requirements, and maintaining effective security policies and procedures.
• Personnel and facility security administration: Hands-on experience using DISS, NISS, and NBIS, as applicable, to support personnel clearance processing, facility security records, visit authorizations, and required reporting.
• Security reviews and corrective actions: Experience preparing for DCSA security reviews, conducting self-inspections, maintaining supporting documentation, and resolving findings through documented corrective actions.
• Classified information protection and security awareness: Experience with classified material accountability, secure storage, physical access and visitor controls, employee security training, incident reporting, and participation in an insider threat program.
• Cross-functional leadership and cybersecurity coordination: Strong communication skills and experience partnering with leadership, HR, Contracts, and IT/security teams; working knowledge of CUI protection, NIST SP 800-171, and CMMC, with familiarity with NIST SP 800-53.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $87,000 - $144,000

Please Note: Actual compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, business considerations, and geographic location where applicable.
