Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Environmental Permitting and Impact Assessor to join our Houston team. You will lead siting, permitting, and environmental impact assessments for traditional and renewable energy projects.

You will guide clients through regulatory landscapes, manage multidisciplinary teams, and drive commercial growth while delivering high-quality, compliant outcomes. This role offers leadership pathways to Partner and Technical Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of consulting or energy sector experience (10+ years preferred).
• Experience with local, state, and federal permitting (e.g., USACE, FERC, BOEM, USFWS).
• Strong communication and business acumen; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead permitting and environmental impact assessments for major energy projects.
• Manage multi‑media permitting with agencies like USACE, USFWS, FERC, BOEM.
• Serve as Project Manager on complex, multidisciplinary programs.
• Build and maintain trusted client relationships through technical excellence.
• Collaborate with ERM leadership to drive commercial growth.
• Contribute to go‑to‑market strategies and business development.
• Support team development through coaching and mentorship.
