Are you a senior consultant ready to build a book, grow a market, and lead a team? We’re hiring a Principal Environmental Scientist/Engineer to team with us to grow our office located in scenic Portland, Maine. Situated in the picturesque and historic Old Port, the office overlooks Casco Bay, making it a great setting both for employees and client meetings. This is a growth role for a seller‑doer leader: you’ll set the go‑to‑market approach, open doors with new and existing clients, and deliver high-impact work - supported by strong technical resources and collaborative colleagues.

We’re looking for an established principal with credibility in Maine/New England (or the broader Northeast), 15+ years of consulting experience, and a track record of winning and expanding client work. Your expertise may span permitting and compliance, site assessment/remediation, air quality, due diligence, sustainability/ESG and decarbonization, energy transition, or environmental data services. As a Principal, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor and market-facing growth leader—owning priority accounts, developing new client relationships, and building a durable pipeline for the region. You’ll pair technical credibility with commercial leadership to help clients manage environmental risk, meet regulatory obligations, and advance sustainability goals across sectors such as manufacturing, commercial/industrial, government, energy, financial services, insurance, and legal.

Salary Transparency
At Ramboll, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices that support our people and our purpose of creating sustainable societies. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $162,000 to $210,500 per year. This range reflects the compensation wereasonablyexpect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
