Job summary

FinOps Weekly seeks a Principal Enterprise Architect to build the enterprise architecture function from the ground up. This founding role defines operating models, governance, and review processes to align technology with business goals and ROI.

You will partner with Finance, Procurement, Security, and the AI Platform team to rationalize the portfolio, reduce duplication, and enable measurable operational improvements across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture.
  • Proven track record in application rationalization and SaaS cost reduction.
  • Fluency with enterprise architecture frameworks and governance processes (TOGAF-style).
  • Experience partnering with Procurement, Finance and Security on vendor decisions.
  • Hands-on with AI tools for portfolio analysis and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Build Celigo’s enterprise architecture practice, including operating model, governance and standards.
  • Maintain full application inventory and lifecycle classifications (adopt/hold/retire).
  • Drive rationalization of redundant applications and tools.
  • Lead build-vs-buy decisions and total cost of ownership analyses.
  • Establish SaaS governance, cost controls and renewal management.

This is a founding role focused on turning a highly distributed and loosely governed technology portfolio into a more coherent, outcome-driven estate.You will define the operating model, architecture principles, and review process that help teams make better decisions faster. The role works across GTO, partnering with domain leads, Finance, Procurement, Security, leadership, and the AI Platform team to convert architectural insight into action.FinanceA major priority will be creating visibility across the application and SaaS landscape, using AI to analyze the portfolio at scale, reduce duplication, and strengthen governance. The work is intended to align technology decisions with business goals, ROI, and measurable operational improvement.## Key Responsibilities– Build Celigo’s enterprise architecture practice, including the operating model, principles, governance process, standards catalog, and decision log. – Create and maintain the full application inventory and classify applications by lifecycle status: adopt, hold, or retire. – Drive rationalization of redundant applications and duplicated tools. – Lead build-vs-buy decisions using Celigo’s own platform as Customer Zero, architecture principles, and total cost of ownership. – Establish SaaS governance and cost controls, including a policy, portfolio visibility, and renewal management. – Partner with Procurement and Finance to realize savings and recover budget where possible. – Use AI tools to analyze the portfolio, identify consolidation opportunities, flag renewal risk, and produce prioritized action lists. – Define governance for the AI estate, including control points, approval paths, least-agency practices, MCP standards, data access patterns, and evaluation criteria. – Align the technology roadmap to business objectives and ROI. – Grow architecture capability across GTO through embedded domain architects and a community of practice.## Required Skills– 10+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture. – Experience owning an application portfolio and architecture standards at a software or high-growth company. – Proven success in application rationalization and SaaS cost reduction, with measurable savings. – Strong fluency in enterprise architecture frameworks and lifecycle governance, including TOGAF-style practice, adopt/hold/retire classification, and architecture review boards. – Strong build-vs-buy and total cost of ownership judgment. – Experience partnering with Procurement, Finance, and Security on vendor decisions. – Working knowledge of AI and agentic governance concepts, including least-privilege and least-agency architecture, control points, and data access patterns. – Ability to govern through influence, align technical and business stakeholders, and connect architecture choices to business outcomes. – A pragmatic approach to delivering usable standards quickly and iterating based on feedback. – Proactive ownership beyond assigned scope.Finance## Preferred Skills– Hands-on experience using AI tooling to analyze and govern a portfolio at scale. – Experience with iPaaS or integration platforms. – A point of view on Customer Zero. – Background in FinOps or SaaS spend management tooling.## Cloud Platforms & Technologies– \*\*Integration & Automation Platforms:\*\* Celigo, iPaaS, integration platform, prebuilt integrations, API Management, B2B/EDI – \*\*AI & Governance:\*\* runtime AI, AI tools, agentic governance, least-privilege, least-agency, MCP, data-access patterns, evaluation criteria – \*\*Enterprise Architecture:\*\* TOGAF-style practice, architecture review board, adopt/hold/retire lifecycle classification – \*\*SaaS Management / FinOps:\*\* SaaS management solution, SaaS spend management tooling## FinOps Responsibilities– Own SaaS policy and portfolio visibility across the technology estate. – Partner with Procurement and Finance to turn identified savings into action. – Use contract renewals as opportunities to consolidate capability or recover budget. – Apply AI to surface consolidation targets and renewal risks early. – Evaluate vendor choices using total cost of ownership. – Support application and vendor rationalization to reduce duplication and spend.## Benefits– Remote-first work environment built on trust, collaboration, and transparency. – Three weeks of vacation starting in year one. – Wellness days and holidays. – Parental leave and a generous benefits package. – Monthly tech stipend. – Recognition and career development opportunities.## Compensation– Base salary range: $175,000 to $200,000 per year. – Starting pay depends on skills, experience, geographic location, and other lawful factors. – Total compensation may also include variable incentives, benefits, or other perks.## Why You Might Be InterestedThis is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to create an enterprise architecture function in a true founding capacity.
