Job summary

WECTEC Staffing Services (a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC) seeks a Principal-level substation expert to lead projects from concept to commissioning. You will work remotely with occasional North America travel, reporting to the onsite Manager and coordinating with E&C across teams.

You will guide Engineers of Record, ensure technical quality against interconnection agreements, and support risk mitigation and ISO-compliant design integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/ Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of high-voltage substation design/engineering experience.
• Project Engineering/Project Management experience; PMP or P.E. in a related field (helpful).

Responsibilities

• Lead substation projects from concept to commissioning.
• Oversee Engineers of Record (EOR) and ensure quality per interconnection agreements and standards.
• Represent E&C in internal and external settings and drive risk mitigation.

We value our employees and embrace diversity across our global teams.Your ChallengeFrom concept to commissioning, you’ll be the technical anchor for multiple substation efforts. You’ll collaborate remotely day to day, with occasional North America travel, and report to the onsite Manager while representing E&C in cross-functional settings.Your ImpactShape early-stage engineering scope with the Early-Stage Project Manager and Development Group; help secure viable sites and compile the data and permits required to engineer and build substations.Guide and oversee external Engineers of Record (EOR): deliver training, perform due diligence, and enforce technical quality against interconnection agreements, scopes of work, project specifications, site-specific constraints, and industry standards (IEEE, NESC, ASCE, and related codes).Represent E&C’s interests internally and externally; brief leadership on progress, highlight issues, and drive risk mitigation.Support Transmission Services in vetting interconnection documentation—system impact, facility, reactive, and harmonic studies, and interconnection agreements—ensuring Transmission Owner requirements and E&C design are consistent, ISO-compliant, and integrated into the final design.Partner with ISC to develop SOWs, complete reviews/approvals, and prepare shopping carts for engineering services and materials.Work SetupRemote role; some travel within North America1-year contract (W-2)Reports to the onsite ManagerWhat You’ll NeedBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred)7+ years of high-voltage substation design/engineering experience (helpful)Project Engineering/Project Management experience; PMP or P.E. in a related field (helpful)Safety FirstYour success matters—and so does your well-being.
