Zusammenfassung

Boehringer Ingelheim seeks a Principal Engineer, Process Instrumentation and Controls, to ensure reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing control systems. You will calibrate instruments, manage CMS master data, and provide hands-on or formal training for end users and technicians.

The role also involves driving change control and cross-functional collaboration. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with at least five years of PLC,

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Automation, Systems, Computer, Industrial, Technology, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation) or related field with a minimum of five (5) years relevant PLC, calibration, instrumentation, automation, and/or process controls experience in a cGMP operations organization or similar environment required.
  • Proven ability in leading projects, resolving manufacturing issues, and driving operational improvements.
  • Creating and executing just-in-time and formal training programs.
  • Advanced instrumentation troubleshooting skills.
  • Mid-to-high level of Microsoft Office skills.
  • Detail oriented.

Aufgaben

  • Bridge calibration evaluations for entry into the CMS to end user specifications.
  • Develop or revise calibration procedures.
  • Lead the instrumentation Critical Risk Assessment process; manage calibration CMS master data; schedule tasks for calibrated instruments.
  • Assist in Out of Tolerance investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA actions.
  • Provide just-in-time and formal training for calibration usage and procedures.
  • Review and approve calibration documentation and work orders in electronic systems.

Description

The Principal Engineer, Process Inst. & Cont. ensures the reliability, compliance, performance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing control systems that support safe, efficient, and compliant production operations. The incumbent is a technical subject matter expert in assessing instrument calibrations as compared to engineering/user requirements, provides hands on and/or formal training for calibration, engineering, and end users as needed. Serve as Master Data Manager for calibration CMMS.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Subject matter expert and bridge the gaps between calibration evaluations for entry into the CMS, vs. end user or engineering defined specifications.
  • Perform/assist in development of/or revision of existing calibration procedures.
  • Lead the instrumentation Critical Risk Assessment process, serves as Master Data Manager for calibration CMS, resolve errors in the database bridge communication network, and provide scheduling task management for all calibrated instruments.
  • Strategic technical expert in assisting and performing assigned Out of Tolerance investigations, Reverse Traceability reports, CAPA's, to help identify root cause analysis, in depth troubleshooting, and providing appropriate actions.
  • Delivers just-in-time and formal training as needed for usage and calibrations with calibration technicians, site services, and end users.
  • As needed, provide managerial direction for various electronic systems, such as CMMS, CMS, Ereq system, Trackwise, etc. This includes reviewing and approving various calibration documentation and work orders performed by others.
  • Drive the site's calibration group change control process, by working with end users, engineering, maintenance, and vendors to upgrade obsolete instrumentation, or to assist in identifying more appropriate instrumentation for current processes.
  • Perform calibration work as needed due to shutdowns, technician absences, and/or to avoid production schedule interruptions.
  • Perform assigned team member project work such as BIgCAL program, or new processes moving into the plant.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering (Automation, Systems, Computer, Industrial, Technology, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation) or related field with a minimum of five (5) years relevant PLC, calibration, instrumentation, automation, and/or process controls experience in a cGMP operations organization or similar environment required.

Experience must be inclusive of:

  • Proven ability in leading projects, resolving manufacturing issues, and driving operational improvements.
  • Creating and executing just-in-time and formal training programs.

Additional Skills:

  • Advanced instrumentation troubleshooting skills.
