Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Outside Plant Engineering professional to provide subject matter expertise across fiber optic infrastructure design and Verizon OSP processes. The role involves data-driven analysis, coordinating regional input, and reporting strategic recommendations for operating programs.

You will lead engineers and PMs in design and deployment, while guiding system fixes, North Star architecture, and vendor management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field, or 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in Outside Plant Engineering or related fields.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Experience with Verizon OSP network capabilities and related processes.
• Experience with Google Workspace Suite (Drive, Sheets, Slides).
• Experience with Verizon systems: vBuild, CP, BDMS, FIMS/ICGS/IDDS, PRS, TIRKS, CoFEE/Canvas, APP, LFACS.

Job description

• Provide subject matter expertise across multiple Outside Plant Engineering functions, processes, and systems
• Analyze and coordinate data and regional Engineering input; report results and provide recommendations on strategic operating programs, including FTTP/NT, FTTCS, HiCap, and CORE services
• Assist in leading Engineers and Project Managers in the design, engineering, and implementation of fiber optic infrastructure and transmission technologies across major metropolitan markets
• Support Engineering Support and IT teams in identifying and implementing system fixes and enhancements
• Support North Star system architecture development and deployment
• Lead special projects assigned by the Executive Director or Senior Manager to improve organizational efficiency and productivity
• Oversee SOW contract management and vendor engagement to ensure effective pricing and quality products
• Manage vendor-related areas including Spend Management, Task/Unit Management, Sourcing Interface, Staff, Systems, and IT Interface
• Develop understanding of business drivers, technological direction, and market conditions to support cost-effective and reliable fiber optic transport networks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
• Six or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work and/or military experience or specialized training
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field preferred as an additional qualification
• Experience in Outside Plant Engineering
• Technical knowledge of Verizon OSP network capabilities, products, services, and associated processes
• Experience with Google Workspace Suite, especially Drive, Sheets, and Slides
• Experience and proficiency with Verizon systems: vBuild, CP, BDMS, FIMS/ICGS/IDDS, PRS, TIRKS, CoFEE/Canvas, APP, and LFACS
