Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Linthicum, MD seeks a Principal Industrial Engineer to join the Manufacturing Operations Engineering Organization. The role focuses on improving labor and capital utilization, defining process routings, and leading continuous improvement initiatives within a secure defense environment. Requires a STEM degree with experience in operations or manufacturing, ability to obtain a U.S.

Government Secret Security Clearance, and U.S. citizenship.

• Master’s degree in Science, Engineering or related STEM with 3 years in Operations or Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Monitor labor performance and develop plans for improvement.
• Monitor capital resource loading and develop plans for capacity management.
• Coordinate facility capital plan execution.
• Define and document process designs (product routings).
• Use and maintain models for standard work assignments.
• Lead Continuous Improvement activities (5-S, VSM, 6-Sigma).
• May establish or assist in establishing accident prevention measures.
• May manage training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or other related STEM field with 5 years of experience in Operations Engineering or Manufacturing; Master’s degree in Science, Engineering or other related STEM field with 3 years of experience in Operations Engineering or Manufacturing

• Experienced technical work in a manufacturing or production environment

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance

• U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active/Current U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance

• Advanced degree (MS) in Industrial or Systems or Mechanical Engineering

• Professional experience in Industrial engineering

• Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system

• Experience in defense, aerospace, or automotive industries

• Technical experience working in a production environment

• Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
