Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Senior Storage Architect for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) Storage and Data Protection. You will influence a team of engineers and work with product management to define and execute storage roadmaps across public sector, retail, and telecom markets.

The role requires leading enterprise storage initiatives, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring scalable, secure storage solutions across cloud and on-prem environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 15 years of cloud computing experience across enterprise apps, infrastructure, storage and data.
• 10 years building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private/public cloud design, virtualization, containers, HPC, data security, and automation.
• Experience guiding teams to deliver services for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peer tech leads to define a strategic roadmap to remediate reliability findings.
• Work with global engineers and product managers to balance architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
• Drive storage-related systems and tooling roadmaps to scale GDC Storage.
• Lead the overall storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC.

Job description

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in cloud computing (e.g., enterprise applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms and data).
• 10 years of experience building enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with private and public cloud design considerations in the areas of developer and operator productivity, virtualization, containers, high performance computing, data, security and config/policy automation.
• Experience providing technical guidance and working with teams to deliver services for internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in designing and implementing large-scale filesystems or distributed storage systems.
• Experience leading product development of 2nd generation cloud products at scale.
• Experience with any of the following IaaS solutions: Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage.
• Technical expertise in systems and software with the leadership skills needed to influence technical leaders across the company.

US: $307000 - $427000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Collaborate with peer tech leads in Google Distributed Cloud Edge Delivery (GDCE) to develop a strategic roadmap to remediate all reliability findings.
• Collaborate with a global team of engineers and product managers to execute making appropriate tradeoffs between architecture, time-to-market, and business goals.
• Drive systems and tools, and infrastructure strategic roadmap and development to improve the ability to scale GDC Storage.
• Lead the overall Storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC.
