Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a senior Principal Engineer to build and lead the Global Markets Digital Asset platform. You will guide the engineering approach at the program level, ensuring scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions for distributed ledger technology.

You will mentor teams, define tool stacks, and stay ahead of industry trends in DL tech, ML, and data science while collaborating with business partners to optimize product design.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade blockchains.
• Experience implementing smart-contract-based solutions.
• Knowledge of digital asset frameworks, products, and tools for agentic solutions.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing multi-tier (including microservices) application platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop the engineering approach for the entire program/portfolio solution and work with Architecture to deliver implementation of technical enablers.
• Lead planning, definition, and design of complex features spanning multiple teams, exploring solution alternatives.
• Generate ideas for designing complex technology and solution development approaches.
• Oversee technical aspects for teams in solution development, including design reviews and code within own domain.
• Define the technology tool stack for the solution within the range of internally approved and supported technologies.
• Explore state-of-the-art technologies to improve development efficiencies, quality of test/QA coverage, and release management.
• Lead and be responsible for the end-to-end test strategy and integration between teams for a program/portfolio solution.
• Identify, design, and implement integrating applications with scalability and availability requirements.
• Develop architectural approaches for digital asset software and hardware integration.
• Work with business and technology stakeholders to optimize product design.
• Mentor team members in technical design and development best practices.
• Monitor digital asset industry trends and stay abreast of advancements in distributed ledger technology, machine learning, and data science.

Required Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience with enterprise‑grade blockchains.
• Experience implementing smart‑contract‑based solutions.
• Knowledge of digital asset frameworks, products, and tools for agentic solutions.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing multi‑tier (including microservices) application platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in object‑oriented techniques and REST API development.
• In‑depth knowledge of databases, large structured and unstructured dataset processing, and messaging.
• Proven ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders to drive technology strategy and align with organizational goals.
• A self‑starter attitude that quickly adapts to new technologies and industry trends.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
• Higher education in computer science or relevant previous work experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience with a degree in engineering.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
• Professional or personal experience in Capital Markets, Payments, DeFi Markets.

Work Schedule

First shift (United States of America); 40 hours per week.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $156,500.00 – $230,000.00 annualized, determined by experience, education, and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible. Eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan based on individual performance.
