Job summary

Celanese is seeking a Principal Engineer, Continuous Improvement, to lead global cross-functional teams through DMAIC projects and drive data-based improvements across manufacturing and transactional environments. The role focuses on identifying non-value added steps, reducing variability, and embedding new processes into standard workflows.

The candidate will mentor teams, advance digitalization, and collaborate with senior management to align improvement priorities with enterprise goals.

Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge and implementation across Manufacturing and transactional environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma training with Green Belt or higher certification.
  • Strong statistical background and skilled at data analysis.
  • Experience with data-driven decision making and quality theories/tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional global teams through the DMAIC cycle to identify waste and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support sites in achieving productivity goals and manage productivity programs.
  • Drive data-based decisions in transactional and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and prescribe predictive and preventative actions.
  • Establish a structure for continuous improvement across the organization and embed new processes.
  • Provide training on data analysis, lean methods, and Six Sigma tools.
  • Lead digitalization and automation efforts to aid predictive maintenance.

Position Overview

The Principal Engineer, ContinuousImprovementenjoys data mining, identifying improvement opportunities, leading teams to identify root cause and implement and sustaining improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects of cross functional global teams through the DMAIC cycle toidentifynon-value addedsteps and waste in the process andidentifyand evaluate opportunities for improvement.
  • Help manage company productivityprogramand support sites in achieving their yearly goals.
  • Drive a culture of data-based decision making in both transactional and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze data to discover trends and issues andidentifypredictive and preventative actions to improve reliability and reduce variation in a process.
  • Helpestablisha structure and culture of continuous improvement across the global corporation
  • Provide training on data analysis, lean and Six Sigma tools.
  • Implement a structure to sustain improvements and embed the new processes into the current workflow.
  • Lead andassistsin defining, setting andimplementationperformance improvement strategies at locations.
  • Collaborate with and influence senior management on areas of improvement and translate mgmt. expectations into project deliverables.
  • Assistand lead digitalization and automation efforts globally that willassistin predictivemaintenanceetc.
  • Drive the standardization,implementationand communication of organizational best practices
  • Drive the implementation of Organizational Management at sites and the implementation of Leading and Lagging KPIs.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Lean Manufacturing training and implementation of Lean Tools in both Manufacturing and Transactional environments
  • Lean Six Sigma training and certification (Green Belt, preferred Black Belt, Master Black Belt, or Lean Master Black Belt)
  • Strong statistical background and skilled at data analysis
  • Working knowledge ofMiniTab(SAP and Power BI preferred)
  • Ability tointerfaceand collaborate with senior mgmt. on opportunities and project status
  • Broadand deep knowledge of Quality theories/tools that can be implemented in a Chemical Industry
  • Ownership mentality, passionate about improving our processes and cost efficiency
  • Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills to communicate within the team and with customers

Required Years’ Experience:

  • 10+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment practicing Lean Six Sigma tools and Data Analysis

Required Education:

  • ABachelor’s degree in science, engineering or a related technical discipline

Travel Requirements:

  • Domestic and International travel. 25-50% of time
