Job summary

IBM Software is hiring a Principal Engineer to join our Traffic team, responsible for building and managing the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. The network platform powers customer and internal connectivity across thousands of Kubernetes clusters in AWS, Azure, and GCP.

You will design scalable distributed systems, drive architectural roadmaps, lead engineers, engage with product and cloud partners, contribute to open source, and improve operations for a complex stack spanning containers,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of cloud infrastructure and networking experience.
• Experience as an architect driving vision and roadmaps in large platforms.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, production systems.
• Experience leading engineers across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate high-performance network data plane software across clouds.
• Lead architecture and roadmap, delivering production-impact projects.
• Collaborate with product and cloud providers to solve business problems.
• Engage with open source communities and upstream projects.
• Troubleshoot complex stacks spanning containers, microservices, and virtualization.
