Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer for AWS Hardware Engineering to help set standards and drive architecture for compute, storage, and edge-server designs across AWS services. You will lead high-impact, scalable systems and translate business needs into practical hardware and software solutions.

You’ll work hands-on with hardware development, thermal and mechanical design, firmware, reliability, and test disciplines.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in server technologies, including: electrical, mechanical, thermal, and software.
  • 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

  • Hands on, producing both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering (HWEng) team creates compute and storage server designs for Amazon’s innovative web services. Our designs are industry-leading in performance, frugality and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of the AWS business and the more than one million customers who use AWS today. Our Principal Engineers help establish technical standards and drive Amazon’s overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and engineering methodologies. They work on our hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs. The AWS Hardware Development team creates compute, storage, and edge-server designs that drive innovation across our web services. We own the hardware design life cycle, manage systems that ensure every piece of server hardware is healthy and manageable, and build essential software that interfaces with cutting-edge embedded systems all over the world. Basic Qualifications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $254,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
