Job summary

Epic Games is hiring a Principal Engineer to architect enterprise-grade agentic AI infrastructure, focusing on agent identity/authorization, cluster orchestration across Kubernetes and EC2, and memory pipelines tied to knowledge graphs and vector search.

Location: Cary, NC. This role requires senior engineering leadership, architecture ownership, and mentoring capabilities to shape AI usage at Epic for the next decade.

Qualifications

• 12+ years software engineering experience, with 4+ years at staff/principal scope.
• Fluent in compiled systems languages (Go preferred; Rust/C++ acceptable).
• Experience with LLM-integrated systems (agent orchestration, tool-use frameworks).
• Knowledge graphs, vector databases, and hybrid retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical architecture across AI infra platforms with coherent integration patterns.
• Drive architectural decisions for agent identity and workload authorization (SPIFFE/SPIRE, OIDC, token exchange).
• Design Cluster API abstractions for orchestrators across Kubernetes, EC2, and other backends.
• Architect knowledge graph, vector search, and memory-consolidation pipelines at org-wide scale.
• Establish credential security standards (AES-256-GCM vault, audit completeness).
• Mentor senior and staff engineers; produce design documents as reference architecture.
