Collins Aerospace is hiring a Principal Electrical Project Engineer for First Class Seating. The role focuses on solving complex technical problems with an multi-disciplinary approach, serving as a spokesperson on advanced projects and guiding engineering teams.

This is an onsite position in Winston-Salem, NC. The candidate will mentor engineers, manage budgets and schedules, and drive program success from inception through completion, ensuring design concepts meet performance and safety

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a STEM degree and 8+ years experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Experience with aircraft electrical interfaces and related standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develops project plans, schedules, and budgets for small to mid-size projects.
  • Records and documents delay, changes in scope, and incidents affecting scope or schedule.
  • Pursues cost saving opportunities to maximize profitability.
  • Performs critical path analysis and implements work-around plans.
  • Conducts meetings and presents progress related to business aspects.
  • Identifies project problems and recommends solutions.
  • Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion.
  • Oversees administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects.
  • Liaises between project management and planning, teams and line management.
  • Coordinates proposals, budgets and contract terms.

We are hiring for a Principal Electrical Project Engineer in First Class Seating. The candidate will be responsible for devising solutions for complex technical problems by applying advanced technical principles and concepts along with a multi-disciplinary approach. This person will serve as a spokesperson on advanced projects, act as an advisor to the engineering community and management, mentor other engineers and provide direction in the area of expertise.

This is an onsite position in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

What you will do:
  • Develops project plans, schedules, and budgets for small to mid-size projects and suggests appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget.
  • Records and documents delay, changes in scope, and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Pursues all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Performs critical path analysis and prepares and implements work-around plans to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Conducts meetings, consolidates, and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s).
  • Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends solutions, such as reallocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
  • Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion.
  • Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
  • Liaises between project management and planning, project teams, and line management.
  • Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.
  • Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports.
  • Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Represents Collins Aerospace as the primary customer contact for projects.
  • Directs the work of employees assigned on projects in technical manufacturing and administrative areas.
  • Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test.
  • Meets program schedules and budgets and maintains the integrated master schedules for project(s).
Qualifications you must have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
  • Working knowledge of aircraft electrical interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in Siemens PLM tools – Teamcenter and NX.
Qualifications we prefer:
  • Working knowledge of seat actuation systems.
  • Familiarity with IFE supplier LRUs and system integration.
  • Familiarity with FAA and EASA requirements.
  • Familiarity with aircraft OEM electrical processes and requirements.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
