Job summary

Baxter seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Infusion Technologies team in Round Lake, IL. You will lead hardware design activities and provide electrical engineering support for product development, verification, and regulatory compliance.

In this role you will develop embedded devices, create schematics and PCB layouts, build prototypes, and conduct testing on PCBA, power supplies, and wireless modules, while guiding other engineers and collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years hardware design experience.
• Analogue and digital circuit design with PCB layouts.
• Proficient with lab equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, DMM).

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded devices for infusion systems within a collaborative team.
• Design and specify electrical circuits, select components, draft specs.
• Create prototypes and perform testing on PCBA, power, and wireless modules.
• Document designs per regulatory processes (DFMEA, Risk Analysis, verification).
• Write test procedures and participate in design reviews and V&V plans.
• Support Manufacturing to resolve yield and obsolescence issues.
• Coach junior engineers and reviews peers' designs.
• Perform root cause analysis on field returns.

Your Role at Baxter

Baxter seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Infusion Technologies business in Round Lake, IL. The Principal Electrical Engineer is an exciting role in supporting hardware design activities within our research and development team. Primary focus of the role will be to provide electrical engineering support for product development, responsible for performing engineering analysis, design, and verification to requirements.

This role is based out of the Round Lake, IL location.

What You'll Be Doing

• Work in a collaborative design team to develop new embedded devices which interact in complex infusion systems.
• Apply Electrical Engineering Principals to problem solving items such as electrical circuit design, component selection, product enhancements, and technical specification development.
• Conceive, design, and build prototypes.
• Understand and conduct fundamental electrical design and testing activities on electrical components, PCBA’s, power supplies, wireless modules, batteries etc.
• Use standard problem-solving methodology to determine root cause and effective solutions to problems.
• Design and coordinate research and test to validate, analyze and solve technical problems.
• Document designs and analyses per regulatory process, including hardware requirements, hardware detailed design, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and verification requirements.
• Write Test Procedures/Protocols, conduct design reviews, design Verification & Validation plans, detailed and accurate test reports.
• Support our Manufacturing team as needed to resolve Production yield issues, and parts obsolescence issues.
• Guide other engineers on their designs, and also receives guidance from more senior engineers.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis on field returns as needed.

What You'll Bring

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree.
• 5+ years experience in hardware design, preferably in medical industry or similar regulated industry.
• Strong Interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
• Proficient with analog and digital electrical circuit design, with demonstrated competency developing electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
• Proficient with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, current probes, spectrum analyzer, DMM, etc.
• Experience with Analog and Digital circuit designs and troubleshooting.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a salary range of $112,000 to $154,000 and also includes an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
