Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8+ years of applicable experience focusing on architecting, designing, implementing, and testing digital Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) designs
  • Experience with high-speed mixed signal circuit card design and/or high-density, high-speed digital circuit card design
  • Experience in bus standards protocol such as: sRIO, SpaceWire, VME, PCI, PCIe, VPX, and Gb Ethernet
  • Experience designing hardware boards that house Xilinx and Altera FPGAs
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance post-start is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The Airborne Radar Electronics Design (ARED) department is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Principal Digital CCA Designer to work on Radar Control and Radar Processor electronics product development for defense applications.

The position is available in El Segundo, California.

What You Will Do

The candidate will be responsible for digital circuit card design during hardware development and integration for Airborne Radar applications. They will work effectively in a cross-functional team environment under senior engineering guidance while also completing tasks independently. Responsibilities include performing component obsolescence evaluations, selecting electrical parts, participating in vendor trade studies, and conducting Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analyses. The candidate will guide junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams—including systems, mechanical, and software—and deliver technical presentations. They will also work with government personnel and programs to define, refine, and validate hardware requirements for compliance.

This position may require occasional business-related travel.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • 10+ years of applicable experience focused on architecting, designing, implementing, and testing digital Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) designs.
  • Experience managing and presenting technical data to stakeholders and customers in design reviews and technical interchange meetings.
  • Embedded Software and Firmware knowledge and experience
  • Experience with Simulation tools such as Symulink, Modelsim; Logic Bus Analyzers, In-Circuit Emulators/Debugger
  • C or C++, LabView, Matlab
  • Experience with Electronic Circuit Simulators such as PSpice
  • Familiar with Failure Analysis and worst-case analysis, HSpice/PSpice, Mentor xDx-Designer Hyperlynx
  • Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering is desirable.

The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
