Job summary

Medidata is seeking a senior platform engineer to architect secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and modernize CI/CD with Argo CD and GitHub Actions. You will mentor teams and collaborate with Engineering and InfoSec to drive scalable DevOps across the platform.

With deep AWS, container orchestration, data pipelines, and IaC expertise, you will influence architecture and ensure compliance (FedRAMP, DR) while delivering reliable, observable systems in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of AWS expertise automating build, test, and deployment lifecycles.
• 7+ years of container orchestration experience (Docker, EKS) including Helm and GitOps.
• Deep experience with Data Pipelines, Iceberg, MSK, and MSK Connect.
• Proficiency with Hashicorp Vault, GitHub Actions, and modern CI/CD modernization (Argo CD).
• Proven success in architectural leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and compliance-driven development (FedRAMP, DR).
• BS or MS in CS, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement secure, scalable infrastructure solutions using IaC and AI-driven principles.
• Lead modernization of CI/CD pipelines with Argo CD and GitHub Actions.
• Implement advanced logging, monitoring, and observability (e.g., Grafana).
• Collaborate with Engineering and InfoSec to drive scalable, compliant DevOps practices.
• Mentor and coach junior and offshore teams; participate in key architectural meetings.
• Hands-on AWS cloud, IaC, and modern CI/CD orchestration; design scalable architectures.

About the Team:

The Medidata Platform unifies the entire trial lifecycle, from design to closeout, in a single AI-driven ecosystem. The Medidata Platform gives every team a single connected foundation. It simplifies work for sites while giving sponsors and CROs greater oversight and predictability, lowering development costs, accelerating enrollment, and improving the patient experience.

Who you are:

The platform is in the middle of a fundamental shift. AI and agentic systems are moving from experimental features to core infrastructure. You will build high quality products and tools relied upon by all internal engineering teams and customer-facing functions at Medidata. You'll be challenged both to develop new features in response to market demand and improve the performance and scalability of our applications to meet the growing user base.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement secure, scalable infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK) and AI-driven infrastructure principles, ensuring robustness for modern machine learning workloads.
• Lead the modernization of CI/CD pipelines, transitioning from legacy systems to robust GitOps approaches using Argo CD and GitHub Actions.
• Implement advanced logging, monitoring, and observability solutions (e.g., Grafana) to support reliability and performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering and Information Security (InfoSec) teams to drive the adoption of scalable, compliant (FedRAMP, DR) DevOps practices.
• Mentor and coach junior and off-shore engineering teams, fostering technical growth, leading daily stand-ups, and representing the Platform team in key architectural meetings.
• Hands-on expertise in AWS-based cloud systems, Infrastructure as Code, and modern CI/CD orchestration.
  Proven ability to design scalable architectures, influence technical direction, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of AWS expertise in automating application build, test, and deployment lifecycles.
• 7+ years of experience with container orchestration (Docker, EKS), including Helm and GitOps paradigms.
• Deep technical experience with Data Pipelines, Iceberg, MSK, and MSK Connect.
• Proficiency in Hashicorp Vault, GitHub Actions, and modern CI/CD modernization (Argo CD).
• Demonstrated success in architectural leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and compliance-driven development (FedRAMP, DR).
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $184,500-246,000
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $165,000-220,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
