Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a senior mechanical/aerospace engineer to drive quality initiatives, manage corrective actions, and develop engineering changes using Pro‑Cert methodology. You will lead root‑cause analyses and partner with operations, quality, procurement, and suppliers to reduce cost and improve producibility.

Required: a B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5 years.

  • Experience in mechanical engineering, design, manufacturing, production support, or a related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage corrective-action activities for Quality Notifications (QNs) and production support, driving issues through root‑cause investigation and closure.
  • Develop ClassII engineering change packages using Pro‑Cert methodology to improve quality, cost, and producibility metrics.
  • Lead Engineering First Piece Reviews at suppliers and cost of poor quality reduction initiatives, identifying process waste and eliminating recurring QNs.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, engineering SMEs, outsource teams, and suppliers to develop and implement product and process improvements.
  • Prepare and present technical content and program status to CIPTs, CSE/ESTO management, and Program Management, capturing lessons learned.

What You Will Do
  • Plan and manage corrective-action activities associated with Quality Notifications (QNs), cost reduction, and production support, driving issues through root‑cause investigation and closure.
  • Develop ClassII engineering change packages using Pro‑Cert methodology and data‑driven decision‑making to improve quality, cost, and producibility metrics.
  • Lead Engineering First Piece Reviews at suppliers, Cost of Poor Quality and production improvement initiatives, identify process waste, and proactively eliminate recurring QNs and repeat analysis.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, engineering SMEs, outsource teams, and suppliers to develop and implement product and process improvements while strengthening technical execution.
  • Prepare and present technical content and program status to CIPTs, CSE/ESTO management, and Program Management, while capturing lessons learned and supporting continuous improvement.
What You Will Learn
  • Gain experience managing Quality Notifications, corrective actions, and engineering changes for commercial and military aerospace products.
  • Develop expertise in Pro‑Cert methodology, data‑driven decision‑making, cost reduction, and producibility improvement.
  • Build cross‑functional leadership experience working with engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and outsource organizations.
  • Gain exposure to CIPT processes and technical approval responsibilities for applicable hardware part families.
  • Strengthen technical communication, leadership, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement skills.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering, design, manufacturing, production support, or a related engineering discipline.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Aerospace industry experience in a design and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, SAP, Teamcenter, Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS, and classical engineering analysis methods.
  • Understanding of aerospace hardware, engineering blueprints/drawings, and manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with Quality Notifications, engineering changes, Cost of Poor Quality, or producibility improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, analytical, and cultural‑awareness skills.
What We Offer

Eligible for Relocation.

Salary range: 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement.
