Fluor Corporation is seeking a seasoned Engineer to develop and review estimates, schedules, and technical specifications for large-scale projects in Houston. You will lead, mentor, and provide technical oversight across teams, ensuring accurate forecasting and risk management.

Qualifications

  • Accredited four-year degree in engineering with 16 years of related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Job-related technical knowledge required.
  • Ability to learn applicable local, state/prov inc e and federal guidelines.
  • Professional registration and membership in technical society preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review estimates and schedules, including workforce forecasts.
  • Establish and monitor material quantities and provide forecasts.
  • Develop and review design specifications and criteria.
  • Support procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
  • Perform calculations and specify equipment for engineering solutions.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers; provide performance feedback.
  • Analyze problems and propose solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Job Description
  • Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
  • Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
  • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
  • Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of difficult engineering complexity
  • Serve as Supervising Lead providing guidance/supervision to other leads and function as mentor to less experienced engineers including performance appraisal input and counseling
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Professional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
  • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
  • Managing and leading a large project
  • Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
Other Job Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of pipeline design codes ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and CFR requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of pipeline material standards and development of data sheets
  • Advanced knowledge in development of pipeline material, construction, and design specifications
  • Advanced knowledge in pipeline design software
  • Advanced knowledge in quality checking of pipeline drawings for alignment sheets, detailed crossing drawings, and typical drawings
  • Advanced knowledge in checking of regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and land acquisition process
  • Advanced knowledge in pipeline constructability and determining appropriate crossing methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge in supporting GIS
  • Advanced Knowledge in pipeline design activity scheduling, manhour budget, and cost estimating
Preferred Qualifications
  • Any experience related to carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and anhydrous ammonia pipelines
  • Any experience related to cryogenic product pipelines
  • Any experience related to high temperature product pipelines
