Job summary

Google is seeking a Principal Data Scientist for Search to drive understanding of user intent and help solve complex, broad problems impacting the future of Search.

You will collaborate with executive partners to build systems and products that scale globally, using data insights to inform product and engineering decisions and maintain a state-of-the-art AI-driven experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or a similar technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in data science or quantitative fields such as statistics, ML, software engineering, or ML engineering.
• Experience using data insights to drive product and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Build a strong measurement framework for broadly defined problems to hill-climb in the right direction.
• Identify and prioritize levers to add user value across surfaces and potential features.
• Establish standards for depth of understanding and accuracy for the Search Data Science organization.
• Build operating pictures for cross-cutting areas and align the organization around clarity and expertise.

As a Principal Data Scientist on Search, you will drive understanding of this rapidly evolving voice of the user to help solve complicated, broad problems that are existential to the future of Search in terms of both quality and experience. This role will vary in terms of “core scope” and type of problem, but will have the opportunity and expectation of branching off of this core scope to help us determine the future of Search.
