Job description

Job Summary

We hire only the strongest architects. This is a role for those who thrive in high-stakes environments, adapt instantly, and consistently deliver at the highest level.

As a Principal Data Platform Architect, you will define and enforce enterprise data standards, lead pilots of emerging technologies, and design scalable platforms that power the business. You’ll be expected to own outcomes end-to-end, move seamlessly from hands-on architecture to executive boardroom demos, and set the bar for technical and strategic excellence across the organization.

This is not a maintenance role. It’s a leadership seat for someone who can shape the direction of enterprise architecture in a company scaling at an unprecedented pace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and enforce enterprise-wide architecture standards for data ingestion, modeling, governance, and integration.
  • Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance platforms leveraging Python, Snowflake, Dagster, Azure, and containerization technologies.
  • Establish Dagster orchestration patterns and frameworks as the enterprise standard, ensuring resiliency, observability, and reproducibility across data workflows.
  • Lead high-visibility pilots and proofs-of-concept, introducing bleeding-edge technologies to the enterprise.
Leadership & Execution
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex architectural challenges.
  • Lead cross-functional teams under pressure, providing clarity and authority in ambiguous, high-stakes situations.
  • Mentor senior engineers and architects, raising the standard across the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Operate directly with executives and senior leadership, shaping architectural decisions tied to business outcomes.
  • Deliver boardroom-level demos and presentations that drive strategic alignment.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across IT, business, and product teams.
Governance & Reliability
  • Partner with Data Ops and DevOps to ensure governance, observability, compliance, and reliability at enterprise scale.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and CI/CD practices for Dagster pipelines, ensuring production readiness.
  • Drive platform roadmaps and prioritize initiatives based on strategic enterprise value.
  • Constantly scout emerging technologies, leading adoption where they create advantage.
  • Redefine best practices and patterns across enterprise architecture.
  • Push boundaries, ensuring the organization stays ahead of competitors in data platform innovation.
Core Requirements
  • 10+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise solutions, with 3+ years in leadership or consulting roles.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python, Snowflake, and Dagster:
  • Advanced data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization in Snowflake.
  • Hands-on orchestration expertise in Dagster, including asset-based workflows, partitioned jobs, scheduling, and observability.
  • Proven ability to establish enterprise-wide Dagster frameworks and lead teams in their adoption.
  • Deep experience with Azure cloud services, containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Apps), and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Proven history of architecting and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms in demanding environments.
  • Consulting pedigree: client-facing leadership, rapid promotion history, and success in navigating ambiguous, complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence; equally confident in deep technical design and in C-suite conversations.
  • A track record of thriving in high-growth, high-change environments where adaptability and decisiveness are paramount.
What We Offer
  • A top-of-market compensation philosophy, ensuring we attract and retain the best talent.
  • The opportunity to define enterprise architecture standards at scale in a rapidly growing, innovative company.
  • A fast-moving environment where impact is immediate and highly visible at the executive level.
  • Direct ownership of initiatives that will shape the trajectory of the company’s data strategy.
  • The chance to work with bleeding-edge technologies and set standards for enterprise adoption.
  • Multiple medical plan options
  • Health Savings Account with company contributions
  • Dental & vision coverage for you and your dependents
  • 401k with Company match
  • Vacation, sick time & Company paid holidays
  • Company wellbeing program with health insurance incentives
