Job summary

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) seeks a Principal Data Engineer to lead data analytics initiatives within its Information Technology department at the Losee Road Facility in North Las Vegas, NV. You will guide data analysts and engineers, shaping data-driven solutions and standards across SQL, Python, and cloud platforms.

The role requires coordinating work plans, designing data architectures, creating visualizations, and ensuring data integrity and security. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent computer-related experience with at least 8 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience.
• Has command of advanced knowledge of technical principles, theories, standards, and protocols in software development, database administration, or data analytics.
• Ability to coach or mentor less senior staff.
• Ability to lead complex projects that may involve other IT sections, other departments, consultants, as well as outside business units.
• Supports multiple, complex software applications or database platforms.
• Must have expert experience in broad range of tools and technology used by NNSS (i.e Microsoft BI Stack (including Power BI), Azure DevOps, Denodo).
• Must have the aptitude and desire to continually learn about new tools and technology and have the ability to evaluate the best solution for stated problems.
• Must deliver quality, maintainable solutions.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

• Developing and implementing data administration standards regarding validation, integrity, storage, and security of data; internal object naming conventions, and data access methods.
• Creating data visualizations and reports.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement data-driven solutions.
• Identifying potential problems, resolving referred problems, and proposing solutions.

• May participate in management meetings to help define goals and strategies and to solve problems.
• May represent MSTS in contacts with the client, outside businesses, and governmental and military agencies.
• May control expenses within projects and be responsible for meeting budget goals and objectives.
• May provide input to policy level direction regarding standards, budget constraints, etc.

Annual salary range for this position is: $118,560.00 - $180,814.40.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
