Information Technology Senior Management Forum in McLean, VA is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to own analytics across Innovation, BI, and Data Management. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Mine complex, high-volume data using Open Source/Digital technologies.
  • Build and maintain data solutions, tools, and self-service capabilities.
  • Translate business needs into tools, metrics, and dashboards for insights.
  • Drive analyses to support meaningful business insights and strategy.
  • Support data quality management: metadata, lineage, definitions.
  • Collaborate with Tech teams on security and data access governance.
  • Monitor and report on data quality through custom tools.

Job description

Own analytics that turn complex data into clear, actionable insights. This Principal Data Analyst role is onsite in McLean, VA, supporting innovation through analytic and technical work across Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management. You will use open source and digital technologies to build data solutions, enable self-service for data consumers, and strengthen data quality practices while collaborating with business and technology partners.

What you’ll do
  • Use Open Source/Digital technologies to mine complex, high-volume data from a variety of sources and platforms
  • Build and maintain well-managed data solutions, tools, and capabilities that support self-service frameworks for data consumers
  • Move initiatives forward by quickly exploring and understanding new technologies
  • Partner with business teams to translate business needs into tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization
  • Drive analyses that support meaningful insights on business strategy
  • Support adherence to data quality management principles, including metadata, lineage, and business definitions
  • Collaborate with appropriate Tech teams to manage security mechanisms and data access governance
  • Build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality
Requirements
  • Degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline
  • Scripting experience with Python, R, Spark, and SQL
  • Strong desire and experience working with data in various forms, including data warehouses/SQL and unstructured data
  • Experience utilizing and developing within AWS services
  • At least 3 years of experience in at least one scripting language
  • At least 1 year of experience utilizing a business intelligence visualization tool
  • At least 3 years of experience querying and analyzing data using data languages and platforms
  • Education/experience alignment: Bachelor’s Degree plus at least 5 years of data analytics experience, or Master’s Degree plus at least 3 years, or PhD (as specified)
Preferred qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline
  • At least 4 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL
  • At least 4 years of experience with process management and improvement methodologies, such as Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma
  • At least 2 years of experience utilizing and developing within AWS services
  • At least 2 years delivering Data Governance and Data Quality Management concepts and practices within the financial services industry

Compensation

Full-time. Salary range for Principal Data Analyst:

  • McLean, VA: $131,300 - $149,800 per year
  • Richmond, VA: $119,400 - $136,200 per year
