Job summary

Stark Tech seeks a Principal Building Systems Advisor to serve as the foremost technical expert for complex building systems, including HVAC, controls, energy analytics, and building performance. You will diagnose performance issues, guide cross-functional teams, and mentor staff to deliver innovative solutions for customers and operations.

You will validate data insights, support deployment of the Optelligent™ platform, and drive reliability, efficiency, and occupant comfort across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of highly specialized experience in building systems, HVAC, controls, or related disciplines.
  • Subject matter expert in building systems performance, optimization, or intelligent building technologies.
  • Experience providing technical consultation and advisory services to customers and stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications such as PE, CEM, CBCP, CCP, LEED, Niagara, Tridium preferred.
  • Experience with BAS/BMS, Building Analytics, FDD, and Energy Monitoring.
  • Strong skills in diagnostics, optimization, and energy management.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex building performance issues and translate data into actionable recommendations to improve reliability and occupant comfort.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance across HVAC, controls, energy systems, and building analytics to support customers, operations, and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and validate operational data and digital insights.
  • Support deployment of the Opt intelligent platform and ensure successful execution of complex projects and customer initiatives.
  • Mentor technical staff and establish best practices; act as the highest level of technical escalation.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to advance Stark Tech’s service offerings.

Job Requirements The Principal Building Systems Advisor at Stark Tech serves as the foremost technical expert for complex building systems, providing comprehensive guidance across HVAC, controls, energy systems, and building analytics to support customers, operations, and engineering teams. This role involves diagnosing intricate building performance issues, conducting assessments, and translating data into actionable recommendations that enhance system reliability, efficiency, and occupant comfort. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Building Systems Technology, or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of highly specialized experience in building systems, HVAC, controls, building automation, commissioning, energy management, facilities operations, or related technical disciplines required.
  • Significant technical, industry, or thought leadership experience as a recognized subject matter expert in building systems performance, operational optimization, controls, energy systems, or intelligent building technologies required.
  • Experience providing technical consultation and advisory services to customers, engineers, technicians, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders required.
  • Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), LEED Accreditation, Niagara Certification, Tridium Certification, or equivalent credentials preferred.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS), Building Analytics, Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) Platforms, and Energy Monitoring.
  • Strong skills in building systems diagnostics, optimization, controls, and solution development, with advanced proficiency in mechanical and electrical building infrastructure, systems integration, analytics, and energy management.
