Descripción del empleo

About Coastal Waste & Recycling

At Coastal Waste & Recycling, we're building more than a company, we're building a team. As one of the fastest-growing privately held waste and recycling companies in the Southeast, we're looking for people who take pride in their work, put safety first, and are ready to grow with us.

Principal Application Architect

Coastal Waste & Recycling

Coastal Waste & Recycling is a rapidly growing waste and recycling company with operations across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. As we continue to expand, we're investing in technology that helps us operate smarter, connect our systems, and support our teams across the organization.

We're looking for an experienced Principal Application Architect to help shape the future of our enterprise applications and software development capabilities.

This is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys both designing solutions and building them. You'll play a critical role in modernizing applications, developing integrations, establishing technical standards, and creating scalable solutions that support our continued growth.

Reporting directly to our Chief Information Officer, you'll have the opportunity to influence architectural decisions, work across business functions, and establish the foundation for how we develop and manage enterprise software.

What You'll Do

  • Own Application Architecture: Serve as the senior technical authority for internally developed and vendor-developed applications, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Design & Build Solutions: Develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise applications, integrations, and APIs using modern development technologies.
  • Establish Development Standards: Define and implement software development practices, including source control, code reviews, architecture standards, CI/CD pipelines, and technical governance.
  • Lead Application Modernization: Evaluate and modernize legacy applications while supporting cloud and hybrid architecture initiatives.
  • Connect Enterprise Platforms: Design integrations across Microsoft, Workday, Salesforce, TRUX, and other enterprise systems to improve data flow, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Explore Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and implement AI-enabled solutions using approved enterprise platforms and governance practices.
  • Guide Technical Partners: Provide architectural oversight and technical direction to developers, contractors, vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Collaborate Across the Business: Partner with IT and business leaders to translate operational challenges into practical, reliable technology solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive software development experience.
  • Experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Technical Lead, Application Architect, or Solution Architect.
  • Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET, Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, REST APIs, and enterprise integrations.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing scalable enterprise application architectures.
  • Experience establishing development standards, source control practices, code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, and application security principles.
  • Experience evaluating and overseeing third-party or vendor-developed software.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Even Better If You Have

  • Master's degree in a related technical or business discipline.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications.
  • Experience building or scaling internal software development capabilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, and application modernization.
  • Experience in logistics, transportation, environmental services, field services, or related industries.

Why Coastal?

At Coastal, technology plays an important role in how we grow, operate, and serve our customers.

This isn't a position where you'll simply maintain existing applications. You'll have the opportunity to help define our technical direction, establish best practices, and develop solutions that make a meaningful impact across the business.

If you're a hands-on architect who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable technology, and helping organizations grow, we'd love to hear from you.
