Okta seeks a Principal Applied AI Scientist to drive AI product innovation from concept to 1. You will set the technical direction for AI and move fast with minimal process, owning the first AI/ML hire in the team. Publishing papers or open sourcing may occur but is not the main goal.

You will learn about security, authentication, developer products, and cooperate with a talented team to shape a major industry while delivering hands-on ML work.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in ML / applied research roles.
• PhD not required; shipping over papers valued.
• Strong Python and ML frameworks; solid software engineering skills.

Responsibilities

• Model and solve auth and security problems using AI/ML.
• Lead end-to-end model development: choose paradigms and tailor models.
• Create and maintain training datasets and workflows.
• Take ideas from research to prototype to product recommendation.
• Evaluate outcomes across quality, security, latency, and cost.
