Job description

AIM's Applied AI capability helps clients turn their business from scattered processes, tools, and technologies into a defined, value-ranked portfolio of AI solutions actually worth building. The Applied AI Product Lead is the person in front of the client who identifies the use cases, defines the business value, and shapes what gets built. You'll run discovery with business and technical stakeholders, surface candidate AI use cases, and pressure-test each one on value, feasibility, and adoption. You'll define the solution shape from a commercial-tool rollout or a Claude/Copilot agent to a RAG build or a custom ML model. You'll partner with engineering to size the complexity and quantitatively rank the backlog into a roadmap. On build engagements, you drive the product and feature definition, the roadmap, and ultimately the traceability that what got built delivered the value that was defined. This is a hands-on product leadership role, not pure strategy and not pure project management. You should be comfortable writing a real prompt, standing up a lightweight agent or skill to prove a concept, and talking credibly about what an AI feature costs to run because the economics are becoming a deciding factor in AI implementations.

You’ll work across two kinds of engagements: focused build projects (define the product, prove the concept, estimate the build, deliver the product/features) and broader AI-enablement programs (intake a portfolio of ideas, document and score use cases, and hand leadership a prioritized backlog).

Must Haves
  • 7+ years in product management, product strategy, or solution consulting, including real client-facing or embedded partner-delivery experience.
  • Demonstrated track record identifying and prioritizing AI or automation use cases - running stakeholder discovery, scoring value against complexity/effort, defining an MVP, and sequencing a phased roadmap using a recognized prioritization framework (weighted scorecard, value-vs-effort, RICE, or similar).
  • Hands-on prompt engineering and light agent/skill development - can design, test, and iterate production-grade prompts, evaluate model output against real business documents and data, and stand up a working agent, a Claude Project / Custom GPT / Copilot Studio–style skill. You don't need to be a software engineer; you build to think and to de-risk a recommendation.
  • Able to articulate a solution across the full AI spectrum - commercial apps, AI embedded in SaaS, agents & skills, RAG, agentic integration, off-the-shelf ML, and custom/tuned ML and articulate the cost, complexity, and data-readiness trade-offs of each.
  • Fluent in AI economics - can speak credibly about token-based pricing, cost-per-transaction and cost-per-document estimation, model tiering and routing, and why the shift from flat per-seat licensing to usage-metered agent pricing has made cost a live, board-level issue for clients.
  • Executive presence - constructs and delivers gate readouts and executive presentations, runs pre-alignment 1:1s with senior stakeholders, and documents decisions.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, creating structure, and managing dependencies and decisions across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills - connects technical detail to business outcomes and executive decisions.
  • Owns the client relationship day-to-day - project mechanics are table stakes you handle competently, not the center of the role.
Nice to Haves
  • Industry context in manufacturing, industrials, skilled trades / blue-collar, retail, and/or professional services is not required, but a meaningful plus.
  • Experience with weighted-scorecard prioritization, value-vs-effort classification, and as-is / to-be process mapping.
  • Experience with human-in-the-loop workflows where AI output is reviewed by an expert practitioner.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI, model evaluation, or enterprise AI control frameworks.
  • Experience turning POCs and pilots into repeatable operating models.
  • Change management and adoption planning as inputs to product and solution design.
