Job summary

Epic Games seeks a Principal AI Engineer to embed AI capabilities in Unreal Engine, designing end-to-end LLM-driven systems. You will work across engine, cloud services, and web UI, delivering robust, scalable tooling and data pipelines.

The role requires hands-on Unreal Engine expertise, experience with LLM-powered products, and strong cloud architecture skills in a fast-paced creative environment.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with hands-on Unreal Engine experience.
• Experience building or shipping products powered by LLMs (agents, tool-calling, RAG, prompt/context engineering).
• Experience with cloud-native services, web APIs, databases, and service deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build LLM-driven agents and tools inside Unreal Engine using engine-side C++/Python tooling.
• Architect and extend the cloud-hosted agent harness, services, and database mediating between LLMs and the engine.
• Work across engine tooling, cloud backend, and web UI to ship end-to-end features.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging LLM capabilities into Epic's engine and tooling.
• Define technical direction for reliability, safety, and evaluation of LLM-driven automation.
• Mentor engineers on game engine internals and LLM system design.
