Job summary

Genentech is seeking a Principal Administrative Business Partner to drive daily operational excellence for the VP of Biomarker Operations, Diagnostics and Technology. You will act as a strategic partner in a fast-paced environment, ensuring leadership stays focused on delivering critical clinical innovations.

You will manage complex calendars, coordinate multi-time-zone meetings, lead major events, and facilitate cross-functional communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) with at least 5 years of executive-level administrative support.
• Ability to prioritize critical tasks, handle shifting priorities, and work with minimal direction.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence interacting with senior leadership.
• Proven track record in large-scale event logistics and vendor relations.
• Tech-savvy with Google Suite and Zoom; quick to learn new tools.

As the Principal Administrative Business Partner (ABP), you will drive daily operational excellence for the VP of Biomarker Operations, Diagnostics and Technology (ODT). In this role, you will act as a strategic, proactive partner in a fast-paced environment, helping our leadership team maintain focus on delivering critical clinical innovations.

The Opportunity

• Manage executive operations by overseeing complex calendar schedules, resolving booking conflicts, and coordinating key meetings across multiple time zones.
• Drive operational efficiency by independently executing high-priority administrative tasks and logistical needs in alignment with strategic goals.
• Maintain confidentiality management at the highest professional level when dealing with sensitive business data and leadership initiatives.
• Lead event coordination for senior leadership meetings, department offsites, global summits, and large-scale conferences from concept to flawless execution.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee executive readiness for critical decisions.
• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure seamless transitions and fast department integration for new team members.
• Foster employee engagement by partnering with leadership to evaluate team dynamics, share constructive feedback, and build an inclusive workplace culture.
• Direct travel and expense management by structuring complex global travel itineraries and filing accurate, timely expense reports.

Who You Are

• Educated and experienced: You hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) paired with a minimum of 5 years of administrative support experience at the executive level.
• An independent self-starter: You possess a proven ability to prioritize critical tasks, manage shifting priorities, and navigate complex situations with minimal direction.
• An exceptional communicator: You exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills alongside the maturity to interact confidently with senior leadership.
• A master organizer: You display meticulous attention to detail and have a proven track record managing large-scale event logistics and vendor relations.
• Tech‑savvy: You maintain deep expertise in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Sheets, Slides, Meet) and Zoom, with an innate ability to quickly master new digital tools.

Preferred

• You possess previous experience supporting executive leaders within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is 90 200,00 - 140 000,00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
