Job summary

University of California - Davis is seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician to perform routine care for nonhuman primates in ABSL-2 and ABSL-3 environments, under supervision. Responsibilities include health monitoring, dosing, venipuncture, and sample collection to support PIs and study protocols.

The role requires handling animals in containment facilities, strict adherence to NIH/OLAW/AAALAC guidelines, and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Must be able to observe and assess health and behavior of nonhuman primates in containment areas.
• Experience handling animals in BSL-2/BSL-3 settings preferred.
• Ability to document findings accurately following GLP standards.

Responsibilities

• 55% Routine Animal Care as assigned in BASL areas.
• 35% Cage Change and Sanitation within primate housing facilities.
• 10% Develop Technical Skills and provide Experimental Assistance to research staff.
