Job summary

Warsaw Recovery Center in Warsaw, VA, is seeking a full-time Primary Therapist to provide individual and group therapy for clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. You will perform assessments, develop and update treatment plans, document progress, and coordinate services with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field; licensure or license-eligibility preferred.
  • Strong skills in treatment planning with assessment, goal setting, and ongoing clinical review.
  • Experience in social work and case management, coordinating services and advocating for client needs.
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency and addiction recovery models, including relapse prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Complete clinical assessments and develop/update treatment plans; document progress.

Role Description

The Primary Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based at Warsaw Recovery Center in Warsaw, VA. This position is responsible for providing individual and group therapy to clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Day-to-day tasks include completing clinical assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, documenting progress in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards, and coordinating services with an interdisciplinary team. The Primary Therapist will support clients in crisis intervention, provide psychoeducation for clients and families, participate in case review and team meetings, and contribute to discharge planning and aftercare coordination. This role requires consistent collaboration with medical, psychiatric, and support staff to ensure integrated, person-centered care.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in Treatment Planning, including assessment, goal setting, and ongoing clinical review.
  • Experience in Social Work and Case Management, with the ability to coordinate services and advocate for client needs.
  • Knowledge of Chemical Dependency and addiction recovery models, including relapse prevention strategies.
  • Competence working with Dual Diagnosis clients, integrating mental health and substance use treatment.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field (licensure or license-eligibility preferred).
  • Previous clinical experience in addiction treatment or behavioral health settings.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and adhere to ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care.
