Job summary

Wonderful College Prep Academy in California's Central Valley is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers, hold students to high expectations in classrooms, lunch and recess, and model a college-going mission by believing in students' potential.

You will 1:1 tutor, supervise structured play, assist with classroom management and differentiation, communicate with families, and help with administrative tasks.

Job Description

The Instructional Assistantwill work in partnership with Teachers to hold students tohigh expectationsin the classrooms and other settings, such as lunch and recess. The Instructional Assistant Willdemonstratecommitment to our college-going mission by believing in students’ potential and supportingstudents' learning.

Essential Job Functions:

• Supports teacher-directed instruction, including 1:1 tutoring as needed
• Supervises structured play before, during, and after school
• Learns from experienced teachers who will explicitly teach classroom management techniques and differentiation strategies that will help meet the learning needs of all students
• Supports a vision of excellence forallstudents, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes
• Provides support with administrative tasks, clerical duties, andtutoringstudents
• Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events
• Administersfirst aid or necessary physicalassistanceto ill or distressed students
• Mayassistwith toileting and diapering as necessary; may administer prescribed medicationin accordance withestablished Districtprocedure
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

• Environment: Classroom environment; fast-paced work, constant interruptions
• Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information, make presentations and communicate over the telephone; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents and view computer monitors; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; ability to go to sites apart from primary office to conductbusiness.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $27.12/hour. Final compensation will depend on skills & experience.
